Steps to College 2016


The “Steps to College 2016 Fair”, a college and university fair, featured community leaders and expert counselors in higher education and financial aid. Representatives from distinguished colleges and universities, as well as State of California higher education experts and nonprofit higher education organizations and advocates were on-hand to help students navigate the college experience. The fair is designed to help all Latino families and students navigate a successful path to college.

The Fair included: 

  • Workshop on Financial Aid Opportunities - To learn about FAFSA and California Dream Act financial aid eligibility, requirements and timelines. As well as information on scholarships available.

  • Workshop on Planning for College & Admissions -  To learn about gaining admission to California colleges, including high school planning, college applications, community college transfers, exams, requirements and academic preparation programs.

  • More than 40 College and University booths with detailed information about each. 

  • Information about "Cash For College" - Getting assistance to apply on the spot for financial aid through the California DREAM Act or FAFSA.

  • College Advising:  Individualized academic advising from MESA, PUENTE, CAMP, TRIO, EAOP and more.
  • All workshops were offered in English and Spanish.
